Student leadership is led by a Guild President who holds the office for one year term. Guild elections are held every academic year in the Second Semester. Former Guild President Mr. Bwowe Ivan campaigning during the 80th Guild Elections.

In accordance with the Universities and other Tertiary Institutions Act, 2001(as amended in 2003) and Makerere University Council Policy, the Department is charged with the responsibility of facilitating students’ welfare and discipline.  The Department’s areas of responsibility include: lodging and boarding; sports and recreation; moral and spiritual guidance, leadership and life skills development; counseling and guidance as well as students’ discipline. In fulfilling this mandate, the department constantly liaises with other departments and University officials.
