CCE Complex Hall Of Residence

History of The Hall
The hall originally started as the Old Mitchell hall and CCE main hall of adult education studies. The hall started in 1982 as Complex in the following manner;
The Hall initially accommodated Adult students of the Institute of Adult Education as well as the direct young entrants to the University (old and young).
Secondly the hall accommodated the female students housed on the two floors of the main building (complex) as well as the male students accommodated in the 4 blocks i.e. Nsubuga etc. that were renamed blocks AA, BB, CC; DD and top floor.
Thirdly, the hall was complex in the way that it was belonging to the department or Institute of Adult studies as well as the department of Dean of Students each had a percentage of students to be accommodated by then.
The students decided to call themselves the crocodiles because of the continued floods that occurred at front compound of the hall.
It has an anthem and a crocodile monument that all students honor. Nowadays it is totally a female hall.
It is affiliated to Mitchell hall of male students. And this affiliation brings social, cultural and a solidarity known as Mitchllex Solidarity.

It is located at the southern end of the main campus about 150meters from the main gate, the first hall of residence one comes across as you enter Makerere.

During that time, the hall would flood a lot but the students persisted and lived in theis great hall therefore acquiring the title "crocodile" which potrayed their character for love of their hall in both flood and dry times.
"Harmony with Diginity" are the hall values that encompasses all cultural norms and disciplinary values of complex hall.
